UMF Inaugurates National Honor Society Chapter

Twenty-eight students comprised the inaugural class of inductees for UMF’s new chapter of the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society for First Year Students. ALD national office representative Lisa Ruch welcomed the inductees at an October installation ceremony attended by more than 100 faculty, family and friends in the North Dining Hall.

Currently sophomores and juniors, the UMF inductees qualified as honor society members during their first year by maintaining a 3.5 or higher grade point averages with full-time course loads.

UMF’s inaugural inductees are Kristen Bannon, Lindsay Bolduc, Elizabeth Borski, Kate Braley, Brooke Burton, Derek Carroll, Christine Davis, Elizabeth DeAngelis, Ashley Devereaux, Vanessa Grindle, Melissa Ingalls, Kelly Johnson, Michelle Kaye, Ashley LaCroix, Samantha Leeman, Ashley Leveillee, Danielle MacDonald, Andrew Major, Sarah Maxim, Kaitlin McPheters, Peter Osborne, Arielle Pasquale, Erin Porter, Ryan Reed, Robert Ripley, Ashley Rochefort, Jessica Squiers and Lauren Vensel.

In addition to the new student members, President Kalikow and eight honorary faculty and staff members also were inducted, including Allen Berger, vice president for academic affairs; Celeste Branham, vice president for student and community services; Michael Burke, professor of English and honors director; Allison Hepler, associate professor of history and chapter advisor; Robert Lively, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Wendy Orosz, college success/academic advising counselor and chapter advisor; Doug Rawlings, director of institutional research and grants administration; and Katherine Yardley, dean of the College of Education, Health and Rehabilitation.
